Angela Barrett biography
ANGELA BARRETT studied at Maidstone College of Art and the Royal College of Art. Since graduating, she has taught Illustration at Cambridge College of Technology and Drawing and at Chelsea College of Art.
Her first illustrations for The King, the Cat and the Fiddle (1983) were exhibited at the Barbican and won her a runner’s up prize in the Mother Goose Award in l984. She has won the Smarties Award, been short-listed for the Kate Greenaway Medal and twice been runner-up for the Emil/Kurt Maschler Award. Over the years she has collaborated with distinguished writers: with Martin Waddell in The Hidden House; with Susan Hill in Beware Beware, The Walker Book of Ghost Stories and Through the Tempests Dark and Wild., the story of Mary Shelley; with Josephine Poole in Joan of Arc and Snow White ; and with Naomi Lewis in Rocking Horse Land . She has also illustrated collections of ballet stories and stories from Shakespeare.

which is the subject of a single artist exhibition at the gallery in May 2010.
