Jane Ray is one of the foremost illustrators of children's books today whose eclectic and distinctive style and given her a truly international reputation.
Jane's early work was picked up by Roger La Borde for whom she designed a successful series of gift cards. Since that time she has gone on to illustrate many best selling books for Walker Books and Orchard and gain a number of awards for her work.
Her first book, A Balloon for Grandad, was shortlisted for The Mother Goose Award in 1989 and The Story of the Creation won first prize in The Smarties Award in
1992 for the 6-8 category.
Both Noah's Ark in 1991, and The Story of Christmas in 1992 were shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award.
Jane continues to work full time as an illustrator and lives in north London with her husband David, a musician and conductor, and their children.
